This week, Mexican drug lord El Chapo was found guilty on all ten criminal counts against him. The man will face a life sentence in prison. This scum bag conducted his criminal business on both sides of the border—clear proof that we need to secure it. As El Chapo prepares for a life behind bars, Sen. Ted Cruz has a brilliant idea for what to do with all his seized assets.

We might never understand how Democrats oppose the border wall. Sure, we have a few ideas about why they do it. Democrats exploit illegal aliens, pandering to them in the hopes they’ll vote. But how can these Democrats—who claim to care about Americans—openly oppose a project that will protect all of us? The only reason they get away with it is because the liberal media defends them. Reporters refuse to challenge them on this issue, forcing Democrats to admit how wrong and corrupt they are.

But the facts don’t change. Our open border is a humanitarian crisis. Illegal immigrants face countless dangers on the road. Most are subject to sex trafficking and human smuggling. For Americans, illegal immigration means incredible setbacks, hazards, and death.

One of the biggest is the drug trade. Drug cartels own Mexican towns along the border. They easily slip into the United States, where they peddle their poison. The opioid crisis that has resulted in the deaths of many Americans is made much worse, thanks to these drug lords.

And that’s just for starters.

Joaquin Guzman, El Chapo, was one of the biggest and most powerful drug lords in Mexico. How rich did he get from his trade? According to federal authorities, the assets they seized—including cash, gold-plated guns, and diamond-stubbed pistols—amounted to a whopping $14 billion. With the man behind bars, that money is in the hands of our government.

Instead of letting it slip away, as so much government money does—Sen. Ted Cruz from Texas has a golden plan.

Instead of requiring that the United States pay for the border wall out of taxpayer funds, and instead of dogging Mexico to pay for a border wall they feel is unnecessary, perhaps the United States could use some of the billions confiscated from convicted drug lord “El Chapo” to build the wall…

Prosecutors are seeking a forfeiture judgment against El Chapo which would allow the federal government to keep the money…

To that end, on Tuesday he introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order, or EL CHAPO Act…

Sounds good to me. President Trump has been fighting Congress for $5 billion to continue border wall construction. The latest proposal only offers $1 billion for border security (not a wall). It’s clear Democrats will never fund the border wall and will drag their feet every step of the way.

Some estimates put the border wall costs around $25 billion. A far cry from what Trump could ever get from Congress. He promised Mexico would pay for the wall, but that might take even longer. This $14 billion from El Chapo will go a long way in paying for the president’s security wall/steel barrier.

On top of that, with a secure barrier in place, the DEA will be empowered like never before. Experts state that they will be able to seize even more assets from the Mexican drug trade, paying off the wall in no time.

So, what’s the holdup? Once again, Congress. Cruz and Sensenbrenner have proposed legislation, but will it go through? The Senate might easily pass this bill. But Democrats control the House. Even without having to spend taxpayer dollars, they won’t support the wall. They can’t afford to end illegal immigration—their future election victories depend on it. Rest assured, they will make up a reason for why that $14 billion should go to something else. Like transgender studies.

It will take the combined pressure from Republicans, the president, AND the American people to force them into approving this bill. We must make it very clear, we demand the wall. If this is the way we’re going to get it, then so be it.
