Fans of the wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson already know about his love for the military. The Rock has hosted numerous events in honor and support of the men and women who serve us. Because of that, an Armored Division named their newest tank after him. He thanked them, only to get roasted by left-wing idiots.
The Rock is one of the biggest names in Hollywood today. From his early days as an icon in professional wrestling, he has gone on to top the box office with his action-packed films. When he’s not starring in movies, he pops up on television and online. It seems like this guy has boundless energy for protects and special events.
He has hosted events that show honor to our veterans and Armed Forces. It appears that Johnson has a special place in his heart for the men and women who risk their lives for the United States. Few could argue with the Rock’s strong sense of patriotism and duty. It’s one of the things that has endeared him to so many Americans.
So, it should come as no surprise that the U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Regiment named one of their tanks after the movie star. Johnson heard about this special honor and gave them a shout out on Twitter.
But things quickly took a bad turn.
Soldiers in the U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Regiment decided they would name one of their tanks in homage to a celebrity: The Rock. When he publicly thanked them, anti-military critics mauled him on social media…
A couple of days later, the Armored Division noted, “El Paso is falling in love w/ a tank named after film star & @WWE legend @TheRock…
Johnson got the word, answering on Twitter, “Salute of respect & gratitude to the @Blackhawk_SQDN @1stArmoredDiv for the honor of naming their tank, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Heavy duty and bad ass, but most importantly, thank you for your service. #IronSoldiers #BlackhawkSquadron #1stArmouredDivision.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Tell me, who can argue with something like that? The Rock never asked for a tank to be named after him. It’s not like he needs a boost to his ego. He’s a record-breaking movie star, after all.
When he heard about the honor, he should them gratitude and respect. But then he went on to thank them for their service to our country. He was smart enough not to make the moment about himself, but about the brave servicemen who are on the front lines.
That wasn’t good enough for the legion of “anti-war” (read: Anti-Americans) trolls online.
USA Today noted one critic on Instagram stated, “Well I really like you as a person and everything but what is a tank meant for? If it is to take the lives of human beings and others then it is not admirable… I hope it won’t be used… May God bless you all Peace and Love.” Another added, “Not sure having a destructive weapon named after you is such a great honor.”
“Having a death machine named after [you] seems cool until it’s used against beings that don’t truly deserve it.”
“Wow … getting your name on a kill machine.”
“Those poor people in some random oil-rich country ain’t gonna know what’s hit ’em.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Morons, all of them. These idiots just parrot what was spoon-fed them at their liberal colleges, or whatever they’ve read on Salon.com or Huffington Post.
People like this don’t respect the sacrifice of our brave soldiers. They seem to think that their liberties just protect themselves. They’re so quick to virtue signal about how tanks are “destructive machines,” never thinking about the many lives they save. Like their own sorry asses.
To the Rock’s credit, he never stooped so long to argue with these clowns. He’s better than that and knows that arguing with people who are too stupid to understand the need for tanks isn’t worth his time.
A positive note, after these trolls attacked the Rock, many users rushed to counter them. Many came out in support of the Rock and our soldiers, condemning these unpatriotic idiots.
Just proves, once again, there are more of us than there are of them.
