A campaign by liberal and gay activists seeks to destroy one of America’s top fast-food chains. The owner of Chic-Fil-A is an outspoken Christian and supporter of traditional marriage. For years, liberals have tried to shut his restaurant down. One town in California is trying to prevent the chain from opening a new location. But they are in for some bad news.
Back in 2012, the founder of fast-food chain Chic-fil-A, Dan Cathy, expressed his views on the Bible and marriage during an interview. The man supported traditional marriage and rejected the growing movement for gay marriage in America.
Because of that simple—and widely accepted—belief, the gay community in the U.S. has declared all-out war with the fast-food chain. Chic-fil-A is hated by many on the left, even while they admit they love the food. Liberals and gay activists have been carrying a chip on their shoulder all these years, even after gay marriage was legalized by the Supreme Court.
Across the country, there have been attempts to block the expansion of this chicken restaurant. Petty liberals have tried to boycott the company. In a few cities, they have tried to prevent the company from opening new locations—often failing to do so.
I guess liberals don’t like quality fast-food, prepared to high standards, provided by helpful and courteous staff. Chic-fil-A employs people of all races and backgrounds (even gay Americans). Boycotting the company would only put innocent people out of work.
But when has the left’s decisions ever made any sense?
Yet another town is trying to stop Chic-fil-A from opening a new location. This time in an unsurprising place.
“A San Mateo County official is pushing to stop a Chick-fil-A restaurant from opening up in Redwood City,” reports CBS Local news…
San Mateo County supervisor David Canepa told reporters he is seeking to prevent the restaurant from obtaining an “architectural permit” due to its founder, Dan Cathy, previously expressing support for traditional marriage and for donating funds to pro-marriage groups…
Craig Wiesner of the San Mateo County LGBTQ Commission supports Canepa in his quest to stop Chick-fil-A from opening in the city. Ironically, he told reporters in the very same sentence that city government should not prevent companies from conducting business while simultaneously calling on the community to prevent Chick-fil-A from conducting business. There’s already—wait for it—THIRTEEN Chic-fil-A’s in the San Francisco Bay Area. But this one the liberals want to stop!
I guess these Democrats don’t want a popular, successful restaurant—that would employ dozens of residents—to thrive in that community. Why welcome good businesses into your town, when you can pursue a path of bigotry and close-mindedness?
These fools can’t even get their own agenda straight. Wiesner said it was wrong for the city to be interfering with businesses, then demanded that Chic-fil-A go somewhere else.
These activists are so blind, they can’t even see their own hypocrisy. What is the real harm in a business-owner upholding Biblical principles? Has a Chic-fil-A ever refused service to an openly gay customer? Not that I’ve ever heard of. Do they refuse to employ gay workers? Again, no—that would be against the law.
So, these liberals are opposing a popular restaurant chain, simply because they do not like the owner’s personal beliefs—beliefs that do not affect the restaurant.
Talk about bigoted.
But the irony of it all is that—despite a boycott by the left for over seven years—the company has not been hurt in the slightest. In fact, in recent years, it has become one of the most popular fast-food chains in the country, raking in billions.
As noted by The Daily Wire, however, the chicken giant just continues to thrive, becoming the third biggest fast-food chain in the United States with $10.2 billion in sales. [Source: Daily Wire]
Hmm, maybe there’s something to respecting Christian values. Perhaps more companies should follow Dan Cathy’s lead?
