The White House came out swinging on Tuesday, bashing Democrats for their complete inaction regarding the crisis at our southern border. Press Secretary Sarah Sanders took to the airs to call out Democratic lawmakers for their passiveness on the issue. During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Sanders pointed out the fact that Democrats and Congress have done “absolutely nothing” while Mexico has stepped up to negotiate a deal with the administration to curb the number of migrants at the border.
“They’ve taken some unprecedented action over the course of the last week, worked with the president and his team to implement these things and we are hopeful that we will see some of the effect of that over the coming weeks and the numbers will start to drop,” Sanders said. Her comments are in line with those of President Trump, who in the past couple of days has issued high praise for Mexican officials over their willingness to do their part when it comes to the border. Trump also managed to throw in a couple of shots aimed towards Democrats.
“Mexico is doing more for the United States as of now than Congress and specifically the Democrats. They have to get their act together,” Trump said on Monday. “They have to work and get something done because you have a tremendous problem at the border with people pouring in and it means crime, it means drugs, it means so many other things,” he continued. Trump has been tweeting for several days about the deal reached with Mexico to stem the flow of migrants and said that the tariffs he threatened to impose will be reissued if demands aren’t met by Mexico. Part of the agreement between the U.S. and Mexico includes the deployment of 6,000 Mexican National Guard at the border to help stop the passing of illegal drugs, weapons, and humans through the border.
The fake news New York Times claimed in a report published over the weekend that the actions from Mexico were not part of a new agreement, and instead are actions that were agreed upon months ago. President Trump responded to these accusations by reminding us that the New York Times is a “fraud” after Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan said on “Fox News Sunday” that the agreed upon measures were indeed new.
On “Fox & Friends,” Sanders stated that she wouldn’t get ahead of Trump and Mexico in making further announcements about the deal, but that there was more to come, with additional information being likely announced in under 90 days. In the meantime, Mexico has expanded their “commitment to stop illegal immigrants” from coming across the border, she said. “They went from doing process in three or four locations to border-wide, which we think will have a great deal of impact on the number of illegals coming into the country and we are thankful that they’ve been willing to work with us and we hope that that cooperation will continue and only get better moving forward,” she continued.
Sanders argued that Democrats remain more focused on “attacking the president” than facing real issues. Democrats are blind to logic and are in heavy denial of the fact that Trump is getting things done to improve this great nation. Despite the liberal media and the garbage light that they try to portray him in, Trump is winning.
