Recent weeks have revealed that there is a huge, left-wing biased at major tech companies. Whistleblowers have come out to expose search giant Google—accusing them of trying to manipulate the 2020 Election. President Trump spoke with Google’s CEO. And he’s made a vow. The tech company better be careful.
It’s no secret that since 2016, top tech companies in Silicon Valley have lurched left. Most of the people who work in these companies were already liberal. But when Donald Trump became president, these tech companies decided they needed to act.
Top social media sites started to “crack” down on content they deemed helped Trump get elected. From news sites to blog to popular personalities, anyone that supported Trump and conservative views was targeted. Users have been “shadow banned,” lost ad revenue and readers, or have been outright kicked off these platforms.
But most troubling were reports that Google—the biggest search engine—has been trying to manipulate results to influence the 2020 Election. Engineers and employees from the tech giant, including Kevin Cernekee and Greg Coppola have called out the liberal bias that exists within Google. Undercover footage revealed that Google has been working to prevent Trump from winning again.
It has not gone unnoticed by the Commander in Chief. President Trump called out Google recently. Even after speaking with their CEO, he made a big vow concerning Google’s roll in 2020.
President Donald Trump promised supporters Tuesday he was keeping an eye on Google, despite CEO Sundar Pichai’s reassurances they were not trying to stop him winning re-election in 2020…
“Sundar Pichai of Google was in the Oval Office working very hard to explain how much he liked me, what a great job the Administration is doing, that Google was not involved with China’s military, that they didn’t help Crooked Hillary over me in the 2016 Election, and that they are NOT planning to illegally subvert the 2020 Election despite all that has been said to the contrary,” Trump wrote on Twitter. President Trump goes on to say that Pichai promised the company was not planning to “illegally subvert the 2020 Election.” But we have to understand, that unless someone can prove Google is manipulating the election, they’ll do whatever they can to influence it.
In fact, Pichai might not consider what his company is doing to be “illegal.” After all, they are in the business of controlling what you see online. If they hide articles that factually support the president and show you only articles that harm him, they might not consider that illegal.
And considering they’ve been doing this since the 2016 Election, there is little reason to believe Pichai is going to make sure Google is unbiased when it comes to search results in the future.
But President Trump is not sleeping. He tweeted, “Lou Dobbs stated that this is a fraud on the American public. @peterschweizer stated with certainty that they suppressed negative stories on Hillary Clinton, and boosted negative stories on Donald Trump. All very illegal. We are watching Google very closely!”
It’s clear that Trump considers suppressing stories in search engine results to benefit one candidate is illegal. That means it’s not unthinkable that his administration will go after Google if they are found to be manipulating results in order to benefit the Democrats in 2020.
He vowed that he will be watching Google very closely. We know that numerous lawmakers—both Republicans and Democrats—have been accusing Google of a serious bias. Democratic candidate for president, Tulsi Gabbard, is suing the company over disabling her account while she was a top search topic. Ted Cruz and other Republican lawmakers have frequently called for a change in policy in order to prevent tech companies like Google from censoring conservatives.
But will all this be enough? Come 2020, what if Google continues to suppress articles in search results to help the Democratic candidate and hurt Trump? How will the administration prove it? And what kind of measures can be taken to ensure they stop doing this?
The president must take action now. Or else, our democracy is gone for good.
