President Donald Trump on Friday, Sept. 27, signed a stopgap spending bill to keep the government funded through Nov. 21, averting the risk of a shutdown at the end of September.
The bill passed the Senate by an 82-15 vote on Thursday and the House by a 301-123 vote last week.
The temporary legislation would help buy time for lawmakers to negotiate and approve a $1.4 trillion bundle of yearly spending bills that is hung up amid debates over President Trump’s proposed border wall and abortion, according to The Associated Press.
The stopgap bill would also help extend major health programs, flood insurance, authorization for the Export-Import Bank and disaster funds.
