It’s clear that the Democrats’ entire strategy over their impeachment sham is to drag it out as long as possible. How long? How does the November election sound? Nancy sat on the articles as long as she could. Now, Senate Democrats want to turn a speedy trial into an unending sideshow. But Mitch McConnell is about to rain on their parade with a kill switch rule.
Let’s just get this out of the way: Democrats never expected to remove Trump from office. There is just too much working against them. Had the Russian hoax worked out, it would have been a cakewalk. But this Ukraine phone call scheme just doesn’t hold enough water. So, why did they impeach him at all?
Because they were hoping impeachment would do enough damage to Trump’s reputation, that the American people would turn on him, come November 2020. This entire thing has been about politics. Democrats want to stir up as much bad blood against the president, that their candidate would have an unfair upper hand.
When have Democrats ever played fair?
That’s the main reason Nancy Pelosi rushed her “urgent” impeachment vote in the House—then sat on it for nearly a month. Her real plan was to never send the articles to the Senate, not until the fall. She exposed her true motives when she said Trump was “impeached forever.” This entire charade has just been about staining the president’s reputation.
Pelosi was pressured by her own party to send the articles over. That means this thing will end early February. Americans will have moved passed it by November. The last-ditch effort by Democrats to affect the election is to drag this trial out by bringing in more witnesses.
We know more witnesses won’t change the outcome. If the House couldn’t do a good enough job investigating this issue, a Senate trial won’t be a do-over. But Democrats only want impeachment to last as long as possible, to further damage Trump’s reputation.
But Mitch McConnell is not having any of that. He’s preparing a rule that will put an end to this circus once and for all.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly is close to finalizing a rule that would allow President Trump’s team to move to dismiss the articles of impeachment in the Senate quickly after some evidence has been presented, as a sort of safety valve in case Democrats try to drag out the trial for weeks…
Ted Cruz told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that the trial could extend “to six to eight weeks or even longer” if the Senate decided to hear from additional witnesses…
Trump, Hawley wrote on Twitter after Axios’ article was published, “deserves the right during Senate trial to ask for a verdict or move to dismiss – otherwise trial will become endless circus run by Adam Schiff.” [Source: Fox News]
If the Senate Democrats try to drag out the trial for weeks (through endless witnesses), McConnell will allow Trump’s team to move to dismiss.
It’s only fair. We know Democrats want Trump “impeached forever.” This has never been about upholding the Constitution, but hurting a president sure to win re-election.
Look at the left’s pathetic lineup for 2020. We are close to the first primary ballots being cast, yet none of the candidates look like winners. None of them can promise anything better than Trump. Their only plans for America are socialist programs that would ruin our current prosperity.
Meanwhile, Trump continues to show us that he’s the man for the job. He is winning again and again.
This impeachment is only about hurting his image and giving the left a leg up in the election. Democrats in the Senate will try to drag it out for as long as they can, so it might hurt Trump’s campaign. But Mitch is making sure that doesn’t happen.
We will most likely see an impeachment trial that lasts only a week or two. Trump will come out stronger.
It will backfire in the Democrats’ face, big time.
