During an interview on “Hannity” on Monday, Feb. 24, former Republican congressman Trey Gowdy suggested that intelligence officials should stop delivering high-level briefings to chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) because he is a “epidemic leaker.”
Gowdy discussed the recent reports on Russian interference efforts to help President Donald Trump win the 2020 election, in which official appeared to have overstated intelligence when speaking to the House Intelligence Committee earlier this month.
Gowdy noted that it took more than two years for special counsel Robert Mueller to conclude there wasn’t enough evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, but it took just two minutes this time.
“It took two minutes this time for us to find out there was no evidence,” he said. “As soon as a Republican asked the briefer in a classified intel briefing, ‘What evidence do you have to support that assessment?’ The answer was none.”
The New York Times and CNN were the first news outlets that reported on the issue last week and CNN has since walked back on its claim.
“For over a year, we were lectured by the D.C. media and the Democrats that no one is above the law,” Gowdy told Sean Hannity. “No one is above the law, apparently except whoever leaks classified information out of Adam Schiff’s committee.”
“What the Intelligence Committee needs to give some thought to is stop briefing someone who has a history and is an epidemic leaker.” he added. “Quit briefing him.”
“U.S. Intelligence official overstated assessment of Russian efforts to help Trump.” @FoxNews @GreggJarrett They supposedly told Crazy Bernie that Russia was looking at him, not me. This is all a big scam between Intel and the Democrats. They want Bernie OUT, & hate “Trump”.

President Trump on Sunday also weighed in, calling for an investigation into Adam Schiff and his committee.
“Somebody please tell incompetent (thanks for my high poll numbers) & corrupt politician Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff to stop leaking Classified information or, even worse, made up information, to the Fake News Media. Someday he will be caught, & that will be a very unpleasant experience!” President Trump wrote in a tweet.
Hannity asked when Schiff will be held accountable for lying to the American people about the Trump-Russia allegations.
“Unfortunately, Sean, it is not against the law to lie to the American people,” Gowdy replied.
“There should be a consequence. And I hope people in the People’s Republic of California will remember it come November,” he added, pointing out the “dirty little secret” that politicians can lie to Americans but “it is a crime for you to lie to Congress.”
