President Trump had an interesting proposal for Bernie Sanders supporters frustrated about their candidate’s decision to end his presidential bid: join the Trump train.

The president’s appeal to Sanders’ supporters comes as the once-populated Democratic presidential primary field has narrowed to just one candidate: former Vice President Joe Biden.

“Today I am suspending my campaign. But while the campaign ends, the struggle for justice continues on,” Sanders said in a tweet on Wednesday.

The Western Journal reports the Vermont Senator explained during a Periscope live stream that his path to victory was insurmountable: “I wish I could give you better news, but I think you know the truth, and that is that we are now some 300 delegates behind Vice President Biden, and the path toward victory is virtually impossible.”

“So, while we are winning the ideological battle and while we are winning the support of so many young people and working people throughout the country, I have concluded that this battle for the Democratic nomination will not be successful,” Sanders continued. “And so today I am announcing the suspension of my campaign.”

“Over the past few weeks [Sanders’ wife] Jane and I, in consultation with top staff, and many of our prominent supporters, have made an honest assessment of the prospects for victory. If I believed we had a feasible path to the nomination, I would certainly continue the campaign. But it’s just not there,” he added per the report.

Sanders dropping from the race leaves his supporters at a crossroads: Do they file in line to back the next Democratic candidate or do they encompass Sanders’ anti-establishment spirit in resisting Biden by backing Trump?

Both Biden and Trump quickly looked to corral these supporters.

“I know Bernie well. He’s a good man, a great leader, and one of the most powerful voices for change in our country,” Biden said in a tweet. “And it’s hard to sum up his contributions to our politics in one, single tweet. So I won’t try to.”

“To Bernie and Jane, as friends, from Jill and me: You haven’t just run a political campaign; you’ve created a movement. And make no mistake about it, we believe it’s a movement that is as powerful today as it was yesterday. That’s a good thing for our nation and our future,” the former vice president continued.

Biden added: “We know how hard this is. You have put the interest of the nation – and the need to defeat Donald Trump – above all else. And for that we’re grateful. But we want you to know: we’ll be reaching out. You’ll be heard by me. As you say: Not me, Us.”

President Trump also addressed the supporters, adding fuel to the belief that Sanders was somehow robbed (again) of his party’s nomination.

“Bernie Sanders is OUT! Thank you to Elizabeth Warren. If not for her, Bernie would have won almost every state on Super Tuesday!” Trump said in a tweet, stoking the flames. “This ended just like the Democrats & the DNC wanted, same as the Crooked Hillary fiasco.”

Trump then offered Sanders supporters revenge in the form of knowing they contributed in beating the Democrat

“The Bernie people should come to the Republican Party, TRADE!” Trump concluded.
