In the final presidential debate of the season, the topic of COVID eventually came up. Joe Biden threw out the same, tired talking points of the left, trying to pin the virus on the president. Biden even wanted states to return to the brutal, un-Constitutional lockdowns that have crippled the economy. Trump fired back, rejecting the notion, and hammered Biden over his personal COVID response.
We don’t have to go over everything we know about the country’s COVID response. But we’ll do it anyway. At the height of the media-induced panic over the China virus, most states implemented ridiculous and arguably illegal lockdown mandates. The data is very clear that the forced shutdown of schools, businesses, and everyday life was much more costly than the virus itself.
As soon as states started to reopen, things began to turn around immediately. We learned that widespread shutdowns and other abusive restrictions had no effect on a virus that could spread so easily. States that embraced strategic protection of vulnerable groups appeared to have cases drop—and their economies start to return to normal.
Democrat-run states continue to force lockdowns, with no evidence they have done anything to improve the situation.
During the debates, Biden tried to pin COVID on the president. Ignoring the real culprit (his buddies in China) Biden claimed that Trump and the country needed stricter lockdown measures. Trump fired back, with a brilliant response.
Biden criticized Trump’s handling of the virus and said certain areas with a spike in COVID-19 cases should consider keeping bars and gyms closed until cases go down.
“We can’t lock ourselves up in a basement like Joe does,” Trump responded. “He has the ability to lock himself up – I don’t know he’s obviously made a lot of money someplace. He has this thing about living in a basement. People can’t do that. By the way, I, as the president, could not do that. I would love to put myself in a basement or in a beautiful room in the White House and go away for a year and a half until it disappears – I can’t do that…”
“We have to recover. We can’t close up our nation. We have to open our schools, and we can’t close our nation or we’re not going to have a nation,” Trump also said. [Source: Just the News]
Biden is fighting a losing battle with his COVID arguments. He wants us to believe everything we’ve suffered is Donald Trump’s fault. However, most Americans are sick and tired of COVID restrictions and even talking about COVID. Jobs have been lost. Livelihoods have been destroyed. Lives have been upended. Biden doesn’t care, because he has a comfortable life and a very nice basement (it seems).
Trump put Biden on display, revealing that the former vice president is totally out-of-touch with what is going on in this country. Biden wants to go back to shutting down businesses and forcing masks on America. Trump has been fighting for a vaccine, life-saving treatments, and reopening our economy.
You don’t have to think hard to see which strategy will work.
