In a move that should shock nobody, numerous states (mostly Democrat-run) have failed to stay on track with COVID vaccinations. Despite providing millions of doses of both the Pfizer and Moderna treatments, many states have not treated enough people by now. Reports reveal that it has been state leaders who dropped the ball—in some cases doses have been lost, set aside (for no reason), or left to spoil.
Should we be surprised that some states are doing this? Just look at how Democratic governors handled this crisis from the beginning. Despite receiving direction and support from the federal government, they continued to choose the worst possible course possible, turning a medical crisis into a full-blown economic meltdown.
But one state is leading the charge in vaccinating its population. West Virginia refuses to let their people down, treating a higher percentage than any other state. And their governor is calling out the rest of them.
West Virginia leads the nation in COVID-19 vaccine administration and distribution, even more so than
other states that have gained attention for their vaccine rollout strategies…
Governor Jim Justice (R-WV) has credited the state’s thus-far effective vaccine rollout with engaging the
state National Guard, local pharmacies, and local health departments.
“We didn’t sit on our hands… That’s all there is to it,” Justice told CBS News host Margaret Brennan…
“That’s not good enough for us. We want to lap the field,” he said. “While everybody’s standing around
trying to figure up a system, or trying to figure up something and they’re standing around twiddling their
thumbs, West Virginia’s not only leading the nation, we want to absolutely lap the field.” [Source: Daily Wire]
The governor is saying inspiring words, at a time when state leaders keep failing and expect no negative consequences. From New York to California, governors harmed their residents by shutting down schools, forcing businesses closed, and demanding they follow strict rules that appear to do nothing. Even as millions suffer and economies crumble, these governors do not apologize or admit where they were wrong. And they keep making terrible decisions.
Meanwhile, Gov. Justice wants to “lap the field,” meaning he wants to beat their already winning record with vaccinations. He wants to go above and beyond the success they already have, by ensuring every last WV citizen gets what they need? When was the last time you heard that from a state leader? It’s been a while, right?
New York’s governor only now is talking about reopening businesses—after countless have shut down for good.
California’s governor has reopened—then shut down—the state again and again. Despite the endless hardship and pain their residents have experienced, there have been no attempts at remedying the problem.
It’s no secret by West Virginia has been doing so well. Their leaders took this job seriously. They worked with local pharmacies, health departments, and even the National Guard to make sure those in most need got the vaccine. That doesn’t appear to be rocket science, just good old fashion hard work.
Perhaps the rest of the country should follow West Virginia’s lead?
