By now, you probably heard about how Disney fired one of the stars of hit show The Mandalorian. But you might not know that this was a long-planned event, thanks to social justice warriors.
Gina Carano played a reoccurring character on the popular Disney+ series. She played a strong, female character, someone leftists would just eat up. But because her personal views showcased on social media did “align” with leftist propaganda, rabid users on Twitter have been attacking her for a long time.
Disney fired Carano after posting comments about the political divisiveness in America, comparing it to Nazi Germany. The company showed their prejudice against her in the statement, making it very clear they were canning her over her personal views.
Americans were outraged over the hypocrisy (they’ve kept on Pedro Pascal, despite his offensive, liberal comments). Trends began to “Cancel Disney” as users announced they would be ending their Disney+ subscriptions.
Now, Sen. Ted Cruz has something to say about it.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) went to bat for now-canned Disney star Gina Carano via social media on Thursday afternoon, slamming the mega-corporation for “canceling” the actress.
“Texan Gina Carano broke barriers in the Star Wars universe: not a princess, not a victim, not some emotionally tortured Jedi,” Cruz wrote. “She played a woman who kicked ass & who girls looked up to. She was instrumental in making Star Wars fun again”
“Of course Disney canceled her,” the senator added. [Source: Daily Wire]
Cruz pointed out the tragic irony in a liberal company firing a woman over her political comments. Carano was the perfect person for modern Star Wars content. Disney was clearly trying to take the franchise in a feminist direction. Here, they had a strong, female actress who was playing a character that many fans (men and women) enjoyed.
But the company killed the goose that was laying the golden eggs (the hit show), by firing one of the most important actors in the series. Over what? The fact that she was expressing her own views online.
And her views were hardly controversial, despite what Disney might say. She was simply calling out leftists who persecute and attack people for having a different opinion. Those SJWs and Disney who fired Carano—proved her point for her. They were so outraged that she shared her views, that they wanted her gone.
Essentially, Disney is saying that they want strong, “empowered” women in their shows… they just can’t think for themselves.
What’s even more tragic was the fact that this was the very showing keeping Disney+ and the Star Wars franchise afloat. It seems pretty appropriate that Disney’s leftist agenda would kill the one thing keeping these products alive.
I’m certainly upset about what they did to this actress, but I’m not upset if the show and service tank because of their actions.
