Just days after the Senate voted to acquit President Trump, a top House Democrat is prolonging the political with hunt. Trump was found innocent on the charge of inciting an insurrection following the Capitol protests of Jan 6, but his legal troubles are apparently not over.

Head of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson partnered with the NAACP and civil rights law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll to file a lawsuit against former president Trump, his attorney Rudy Giuliani and two right-wing groups. Rep. Thompson filed the lawsuit as a private citizen, not a sitting member of Congress.

The 32 page lawsuit contains a plethora of mistruths, falsehoods, and exaggerations. It is alleged that Trump and Giuliani, in tandem with the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, violated the Klu Klux Klan act, a law that protects freed slaves from extremism. The lawsuit also contains arguments Democrats tried and failed to use against Trump during the impeachment proceedings.

The lawsuit states that thousands were encouraged to storm the Capitol after Trump spoke at the ‘Save America’ rally. Congress was currently in session certifying the electoral votes which formally elected Joe Biden as 46th President of the United States. Giuliani made phone calls to Republican lawmakers, asking they “slow down the count” which prompted the Dem Rep. to include him on the suit.

Derrick Johnson, President of the NAACP, falsely claimed the lawsuit was merely to prevent future acts of domestic terrorism. Suing Trump and Giuliani would do nothing to prevent future acts of domestic terrorism. This lawsuit is just another example of liberal hatred for Trump surpassing any form of logic or reason on the part of the Democrats and their liberal cohorts.

Trump and his lawyers have defended their comments ahead of the riots as protected by the First Amendment.
