The Stakes Are High: Manchin Faces One Of The Toughest Decisions Of His Life

With Joe Biden in office and the Senate suffering from a 50-50, one unlikely senator has been given tremendous power. West Virginia Democrat, Joe Manchin, comes from a red state that went for Trump both in 2016 and 2020. If he wants to keep his voters happy, he has to embrace moderate views that appeal to both Democrats and Republicans.

The big problem? Democrats in D.C. have given up all pretenses that they are moderate politicians who care about Americans. They are rabid socialists who are hell-bent on spending as much taxpayer money as possible. They even want to destroy the filibuster and dismantle our elections.

Manchin has so far refused to compromise with the radical left. But progressives are using tremendous pressure to get the Democrat to bow. A new poll, however, spells big trouble for the senator if he dares betray the voters back home.

According to the poll, 56 percent of West Virginians (including 59 percent of Manchin supporters) would be less likely to support him for reelection if he votes to eliminate or weaken the filibuster…

West Virginians are also largely against the federal takeover of elections, with 73 percent of those polled (including 79 percent of Manchin supporters) disagreeing with the statement that the federal government should dictate West Virginia’s voting laws…

These are strong numbers against the radical left’s agenda in D.C. Should Manchin go along with their overhaul of our elections or ending the filibuster, he faces a real problem back home. That problem is made even worse, considering his current approval. Manchin only has 36% approval and 55% disapproval.

If he budges even a little bit in favor of the radical left’s toxic agenda, he might be saying goodbye to his seat in the Senate. A strong Republican challenger can easily defeat a Democrat with such weak numbers.

But signs are showing Manchin might ignore his own state’s concerns. He is in favor of the “Freedom to Vote Act,” another pathetic attempt by the left to destroy our elections. And the word is, Democrats are trying to get rid of the filibuster to raise the debt ceiling, something Manchin might be in favor of.

What will happen if Manchin ignores these numbers and bows to the extremists in his party? We can’t say for sure. But with an approval this low, he will have a very hard time fighting for reelection.
