NJ Gym Owner Who Defied Lockdowns Now Running for Congress

They say the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is if good men do nothing. We saw that come to life throughout the COVID panic. Corrupt politicians and the media exploited concerns over a new disease to grab as much power as possible. They ignored common sense and medical knowledge to impose medieval restrictions on hard-working Americans. They did this, not because it would beat the disease, but because it helped them politically.

During the height of lockdown fever, we heard about a business owner in New Jersey who refused to comply with the governor’s orders. They defied the lockdown, so their business could stay open. They fought major fines and other attacks from the government—and became a spearhead in a movement to shut down governors’ overreach. Now, one of the co-founders of that business is taking it to the next level.

The owner of a New Jersey gym who defied Governor Phil Murphy’s COVID-19 lockdown orders is mounting a run for Congress.

Ian Smith, the co-owner of the Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, New Jersey, announced via Twitter that his first campaign event would take place Thursday evening. Smith is running in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, attempting to unseat incumbent Democrat Andy Kim, who was first elected to Congress in 2018…

“People, not politicians. For too long, good people have not gotten involved in politics — whether that is because the establishment won’t open the door for them or they don’t want to participate in the foul world of politics. More than anything, this needs to change. And I will be a part of that change,” Smith said in an Instagram post accompanying the announcement. [Source: Daily Wire]

Smith and his partner were arrested and slammed with egregious fines, racking up daily, just for defying a bogus lockdown order. They’ve been waging a legal battle for two years. How far did New Jersey go to undermine these men’s rights? The state literally stole the money people raised for them for their legal battles, over $100,000. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what these business owners had to deal with, thanks to power-hungry monsters in government.

It’s an impressive move to hear that Ian Smith is now taking the fight directly to Congress. With all that he went through over the last two years, you’d think he would just be happy to have his gym back. Instead, a fire’s been lit under him to end the kind of abuses he witnessed firsthand.

If you think their fight was about simple COVID mandates, you’re wrong. They were standing up to a government that was trampling their constitutional rights. New Jersey’s governor sought to destroy these men, simply because they didn’t want to close their business. Lockdowns and mandates have been seen as shocking violations of free Americans’ rights. And men like Smith took a beating for the rest of us, to wake up the rest of the country.

We can’t predict how Smith’s race will turn out. But something tells us he will have plenty of support from many Americans.
