Pelosi Scrambles, Claims ‘Defund Police’ Movement Never a Democrat Platform

If there’s one thing we know about Nancy Pelosi, it’s that she has a poor relationship with the truth. Quite a while ago, she claimed that the disastrous program known as Obamacare had to be passed before we could find out what’s in it. More recently, she claimed that the Trump tax cuts bill that helped save millions of jobs was “Armageddon.” She once said she’d never impeach then-President Trump. She did that twice.

Now, she is forced to deal with a near-impossible situation: hold onto a 3-seat majority in the House. The tide is turning, and Republicans are set to retake Congress this November. So Pelosi, realizing her power is soon to be gone, is getting desperate. She is trying to rewrite history, claiming her party never supported the radical notion of defunding police.

Except they did, a lot.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that “Defund the Police” was not a policy that was being pursued by the Democratic Party, despite the continued insistence of freshman Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO)…

Pelosi went on to say that there was certainly room to reform issues like no-knock warrants or choke holds, but that the Democratic Party was not going to adopt “defund the police” as a policy position.

“Make no mistake, community safety is our responsibility,” Pelosi continued. “And I quote one of my colleagues from New York, Ritchie Torres, a brand new member of Congress, way on the left, saying that ‘Defund the Police is dead.’ That causes a concern with a few in our caucus, but public safety is our responsibility and I support what Karen Bass is doing and Mayor Adams of New York.” [Source: Daily Wire]

This is the same woman who encouraged deadly riots in 2020 over police, saying she was surprised more weren’t happening. The same woman who sat back and let far-left radicals like AOC and Ilhan Omar run Congress. The same woman who did not use her considerable influence in her party to discourage countless mayors, city councils, and governors from slashing police budgets in 2020 and 2021.

She claims “defund the police is dead.” But why haven’t most of the blue cities that sent cops packing re-funding their police departments? Why are cops leaving Washington and Illinois for Arizona and Florida? She claims New York lawmakers are ending this movement. But NYC just picked a DA as radical as the one in Los Angeles. And their new mayor, a former police captain, is doing nothing to stop the rising crime.

It’s because Pelosi is all talk, no action. She will say anything if she thinks it will help her win elections. But what has she done in the last three years to end this surge in crime, provide funding for police departments, and support our men in blue? Nothing at all.

She can talk all she wants about “community safety.” But she wasted last year trying to pass a radical spending bill that had nothing to do with protecting our cities. Pelosi applauded rioters and looters. She has not shown support for men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe.

The only thing she cares about is winning the midterms. But even then, she’s going to fail.
