Trump's Oil Policy Tossed Aside Amid Growing Gas Shortage

In the midst of a gas shortage, the Biden administration decided it’d be best to immediately suspend the oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge issued by the Trump administration.

Americans are already struggling with record-high gas prices, long lines and fueling stations, and shortages making it even harder to make a living, feed their families, and live any semblance of a normal life.

The decision to drill in Alaska’s arctic region has long-been a political fight for decades, but from the jump the Biden administration has plunged itself into environmental fascism despite its effects on the American people.

Biden issued a temporary moratorium on oil and gas leases imposed by the Trump administration upon his first day in office. The Executive Orders imply new environmental reviews would be required before oil drilling programs could proceed. He also is set to address the possible “legal” flaws in the drilling programs signed into law by the Trump administration in 2017.

The plan was set to release next week, but journalists got their hands on the official statement written by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management, an Interior Department agency, attempted to sell the lease for the land weeks before Biden’s presidency. One week later, leasing agencies signed on to secure ownership of nearly-700 square miles of land in the region. However, the Biden administration refused to announce the newly-signed leases until days after Trump left the White House.

Biden has opposed drilling in the region, often kowtowing to radical environmental groups who demand permanent protections in the region despite the harrowing affects it has on the American people. On the campaign trail Biden repeatedly vowed to issue such protections.

However, he administration’s action to suspend the leases comes after officials disappointed environmental groups last week by defending a Trump administration decision to approve a major oil project on Alaska’s North Slope.
