Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child on Sunday morning — a boy named Alec Neel Vance. Mother and baby are healthy. The couple's three older children — Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel — now have a little brother.

The Vances announced Alec's arrival in a joint Instagram post. "We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning," the couple wrote. "Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother."

JD and Usha first announced they were expecting a fourth child in January, saying they were "looking forward to welcoming him in late July."

The couple first met at Yale Law School and married in 2014. Twelve years and four children later, they're running the kind of household that used to be considered normal and is now treated like a political statement.

President Donald Trump congratulated the family on Truth Social. "Congratulations! A perfect baby boy for the wonderful Vance family," Trump wrote.

The Vances also thanked the staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their care during the delivery. "The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing," they said. "We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family."

Usha said previously she wasn't always as enthusiastic about having a fourth baby as hubby JD was. She admitted they were discussing the idea when Charlie Kirk was brutally murdered. While comforting his grieving wife, Erika mentioned she'd wished she'd have had more than just two children with Charlie. That moment was pivotal, Usha claimed, in her decision to go ahead and have another child despite husband JD being super busy helping to run the country.

They used the name Neel in Alec's name because that is Usha's family name. A sweet name for a sweet child.
