Bitter sore loser Mitt Romney just knifed President Trump, Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell and the rest of the GOP in the back by saying he’d likely support witnesses at Trump’s impeachment trial, as The Hill reports:
“Utah Sen. Mitt Romney (R) said Saturday that it is “very likely” he will be in favor of calling witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial against President Trump.
However, the GOP lawmaker said he will hold off on making his final decision until after Democratic impeachment managers and the president’s defense lawyers conclude their opening arguments.
“I think it’s very likely I’ll be in favor of witnesses, but I haven’t made a decision finally yet and I won’t until the testimony is completed,” the Utah Republican said Saturday after the first day of the Trump team’s opening arguments, CNN reported.
Romney declined to say whether he thought the president’s defense team was effective in the opening hours of their arguments, saying, “I just don’t have any comments on the process or the evidence until the trial is over,” CNN reported.”
This is just a guess, but I’m betting that Romney would support witnesses that could potentially hurt President Trump, but vote against calling Hunter or Joe Biden.
Mitt Romney is snake in the grass who hates President Trump and his successes and will do whatever he can to bring him down, or at least down a notch.
Today, on Fox News Sunday, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, just laid down the law to Democrats when it comes to witnesses during President Trump’s impeachment trial.
“If we call one witness, we’re gonna call all the witnesses. There’s not gonna be a process where the Democrats get their witnesses and the president gets shut out. I’m gonna be consistent. I’m going against calling the four witnesses requested by Senator Schumer, all covered by executive privilege, they’re part of the national security team of the president,” Graham said.
He added “They [the witnesses] could have been called in the house. They chose not to. Apparently they don’t need them to make the case. Hunter Biden and Joe Biden and the whistle blower, we can look at those allegation of misconduct outside of impeachment.”
“I want this trial to get over as quick as possible. I want the people of the United States to pick the next president, not a court of impeachment. I’d like to be spending my time working on prescription drugs and national security issues instead of this.”
Watch as Lindsey Graham lays down the law to Democrats regarding witnesses at the Senate impeachment trial:
Later on in the same interview Lindsey Graham discussed the unfairness of the process in the House of Representatives:
“You did not allow him [President Trump] to call any witnesses. He could not have a lawyer present during the house Intel committee. This has been a partisan railroad job. And you’re asking for fairness in the Senate? You violated every norm of what we do.”
“It took five years for Starr to look at Clinton. Mueller looked at Trump for almost two years. You took 48 days. So here’s what I would say. The sooner this is over, the better for the country.”
“We can get back to doing the business of the American people and do things that really matter to them. I have been very consistent. I have been supported Mueller. I trusted him to be fair. This has been a political hit job. This is political revenge. What they’re doing to the presidency is a danger to the institution itself.”
Graham then finished up by saying his goal is to be sure this unfair impeachment process never happens to another President:
“It would be nice to have a lawyer present. It would be nice to request witnesses. I guarantee you, he’ll [the President] get a better deal in the Senate than in the House. His hope is to go to the state of the union and talk about what he wants to do for 2020 and the next four years.”
He is comfortable with the idea that this is going to turn out well for him. He thinks it’s a threat to the presidency.”
“One thing he talks to me constantly about is, what does the next president do after this if this is successful? He does not want to legitimatize attack on the presidency. That’s my number one goal is to do this in a fashion that no house Republican or Democrat ever will do again what this House did.”
House Republican leader Rep. Steve Scalise just tore Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pieces over her ridiculous impeachment charade.
Scalise was asked “Do believe speaker Pelosi is overreaching by trying to influence a Senate trial?”
He responded “It’s not her role to go over to the Senate. She could run for the Senate if she wants to be a senator. The House has a role, the Senate has a role, it’s time for the House to do their job.”
“For months she was saying how important it is that got to remove this president immediately, the threat to their whole way of life and once they pass the impeachment, she doesn’t want the Senate to get the papers to start the trial. They can’t have it both ways.”
“I think people see through the charade, it’s a political charade,” Scalise added. “This is not what our founders intended impeachment to be used for. In fact they wrote about it, Hamilton talks very specifically about the concern that impeachment would be used to carry out a political vendetta instead of to go after a crime.”
“If there was no crime committed, so now all they’re doing is trying to just attack the president personally because their field is so weak on the Democrat side and the president has done such a great job of fulfilling his promises, the things he actually ran on doing.”
Scalise then twisted the knife, “I wish Barack Obama and Joe Biden would have stood up to Russia and helped Ukraine is much as President Trump has helped Ukraine, selling javelin missiles, allowing them to stand up to Russia in ways that Barack Obama and Joe Biden wouldn’t allow Ukraine to do.”
Scalise is right.
What Nancy Pelosi and her nefarious crew of bottom dwelling Democrats have done to this country is a farce wrapped in a tragedy.
Their impeachment of the President is stupid, and silly but also highly dangerous to the future of our republic.
If in the future, every President is impeached when the opposition party takes the House, then we are doomed.
Democrats must be made to pay the price at the polls for their misdeeds and pay hard.
House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, bowing to the dictates of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is rushing through drafting Articles of Impeachment and say a vote may be possible as early as next week, as Reuters reports:
“Jerrold Nadler, the Democratic chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said on Sunday that articles of impeachment were being drafted and it was possible his panel could vote this week on charges against President Donald Trump.
Nadler told CNN’s “State of the Union” that the panel had “a lot to consider” in determining which charges to file against the Republican president.
“There are possible drafts that various people are writing,” he said. “But the fact is we’re not going to make any decision as to how broad the articles should be, as to what they contain what the wording is – until after the hearing tomorrow.”
The committee will hold a public hearing on Monday to consider evidence gathered in the inquiry that focuses on Trump’s request that Ukraine investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a leading contender for the Democratic nomination to face the president in the 2020 U.S. election.
Democratic lawmakers worked through the weekend digesting information they received from the House Intelligence Committee and constitutional law scholars who testified before Congress on Wednesday.“
During an “impeachment” hearing today in front of the House Judiciary Committee former Trump aide Cory Lewandowski put Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in her place.
Watch the whole hilarious thing:
JACKSON LEE: “… whether the president told you he called his counsel at home on Saturday to remove on a Saturday the special counsel and his counsel said no. The president called sessions at home and asked him to unrecuse himself and oversee the special counsel’s investigation and sessions said no. When the president asked you to deliver his message to sessions, did the president tell you that sessions had already said no, volume 2, page 107?”
LEWANDOWSKI: “Again, I recognize that the privilege is not mine, but I’ve been asked — I’d be happy to answer your question, or you can have a conversation by yourself.”
JACKSON LEE: “I’m going to continue. The reason —“
LEWANDOWSKI: “Don’t ask me a question —“
JACKSON LEE: “This is a House Judiciary not a house party.”
LEWANDOWSKI: “If you ask me a question, give me an opportunity to answer the question.”
JACKSON LEE: “I would like my time restored please of his interruption. So he was a witness to the special counsel’s investigation, for that reason, sessions said publicly that federal law prohibited his involvement in the special counsel investigation. You can read this on the screen. Yes or no, did the president tell you that the Attorney general was not allowed to take any part in the special counsel’s investigation when he asked you to deliver him a note about that very investigation? Did the president tell you that?”
LEWANDOWSKI: “What you’ve read is not on the screen, congresswoman.”
JACKSON LEE: “You need to look at the screen.”
LEWANDOWSKI: “There it is.”
JACKSON LEE: “Yes or no, read the screen?”
LEWANDOWSKI: “You’re welcome to read it, congresswoman.”
JACKSON LEE: “You’re welcome to be stalling. You answer the question, your honor — yes or no.”
JACKSON LEE: “That you can answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’”
LEWANDOWSKI: “I will not disclose any conversation.”
JACKSON LEE: “You are obviously here to block any reasonable inquiry into the truth or not of this administration. The White House counsel, quote, shortly after sessions announced his recusal directed that sessions should not be contacted about the special counsel investigation. In fact, the White House counsel note states no contact with sessions and no communications serious about obstruction. Can you read that. I just said it. Did you hear me?”
LEWANDOWSKI: “Yes. Is there a question?”
JACKSON LEE: “Yes. Did the president tell you his White House counsel told him no contact with sessions because of serious concerns of obstruction when he asked you to deliver a message to sessions.”
LEWANDOWSKI: “I am respecting the privilege of confidentiality and I will recognize at this time —“
JACKSON LEE: “Let me say that you knew — you know the president was putting you at risk when he asked you to deliver a message to the Attorney General. I want to be very clear. The president knew what he was doing was wrong because everyone else had already said no. He called his White House counsel to fire the special counsel, McGahn said no. He called the Attorney general to ask him to unrecuse himself from the special counsel’s investigation, sessions said no. His White House counsel said there should be no contact with sessions because of his recusal. What does the president do? He calls you in to do what everyone else wouldn’t do. He called you in to do his dirty work in secret. Because he was wrong. We will expose the truth.”
During the State of the Union, President Trump denounced Socialism, and said the USA “will never be a socialist country. As you might guess Bernie Sanders had an interesting response, as Reason reports:
Trump was discussing the situation in Venezuela, where his administration has recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidó as the nation’s new president, rather than Nicolás Maduro. “We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom—and we condemn the brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair,” Trump said.
“Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence—not government coercion, domination, and control,” he added. “We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.”
As Trump was discussing socialism, the camera panned to Sanders, who seemed to have a frown on his face:
Watch the whole hilarious thing:
President Donald Trump slams socialism: "America was founded on liberty and Independence and not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free and we will stay free."
Poor Bernie, Poor Ocasio-Cortez, stabbed in the back by the leaders of the Democratic party.
