President Donald Trump has delivered a massive victory for working-class Americans, officially shutting down New York City’s congestion pricing scam before it could drain even more money from hardworking commuters and small businesses.
On Wednesday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy informed New York Gov. Kathy Hochul that the Federal Highway Administration’s approval of the toll plan was “not authorized by law.”
And just like that, Trump’s administration put the brakes on another Democratic money-grab.
Duffy: “A Slap in the Face to Working Americans”
Duffy didn’t hold back, calling the congestion pricing plan a tax on working people, truckers, and small businesses while benefiting New York’s bloated Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA).
“New York State’s congestion pricing plan is a slap in the face to working-class Americans and small business owners,” Duffy declared.
- Drivers already pay gas taxes to fund roads—this was just another excuse to extract more cash from the middle class.
- There was no toll-free alternative—residents and businesses would be forced to pay, no matter what.
- Trucks and delivery vehicles would have faced skyrocketing costs, leading to higher prices for consumers.
Duffy made it clear: The program was never about reducing congestion—it was about fleecing commuters to fund NYC’s mismanaged transit system.
NYC Democrats Lose Their Minds, GOP Officials Celebrate
Democrats, predictably, are furious.
MTA CEO Janno Lieber immediately rushed to federal court, whining that the decision would undo “years of federally supervised environmental review.”
But Republican leaders and working-class commuters cheered the move.
- Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY): “Today’s actions are a victory for hardworking, taxpaying commuters who have been unfairly burdened by this toll.”
- Queens Democrat Councilman Bob Holden: “President Trump kept his promise to New Yorkers by stopping this scam tax.”
- Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association: “Truckers welcome USDOT’s decision to rescind this anti-business, anti-worker tolling plan.”
Trump to New Yorkers: “Your City Shouldn’t Be Reserved for the Elite”
Trump’s administration made it clear that NYC should not become an exclusive playground for the rich.
“Every American should be able to access New York City regardless of their economic means. It shouldn’t be reserved for an elite few.”
Once again, Trump stands with working-class Americans while Democrats try to squeeze them dry.
What’s Next? Expect More Democrat Tantrums and More Trump Wins
With Trump cracking down on Democratic toll schemes nationwide, expect more attempts from leftist bureaucrats to challenge his decision in court.
But if history tells us anything, Trump will keep winning—and working-class Americans will keep reaping the benefits.
