If Voter Fraud Doesn't Exist, Why Is Virginia's Governor Barring Feds From Polling Places?

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger just signed an executive order barring federal officials from polling places across the Commonwealth — and if you're wondering why someone would slam the door shut on election monitors when there's supposedly "nothing to see here," congratulations, you're smarter than the entire Democrat establishment.

Because nothing says "free and fair elections" like making sure nobody's allowed to watch.

Spanberger made the announcement at a Center for American Progress event on May 19, because of course she did. Where else would you roll out an order designed to keep federal law enforcement away from the democratic process? A yoga retreat was probably booked.

Here's what she actually said: "Tomorrow I'll be issuing an executive order. Ensuring that we are putting out from the state level some guidance across public spaces, including polling places, of how Virginia state employees or people who are working in support of Virginia's state-run elections, can react to, in this particular case, federal agents who might be appearing at a location and where the worry is that they're principally there to intimidate or scare people."

Read that again. The "worry" is that federal agents are there to "intimidate or scare people." Intimidate whom, exactly? Legal voters have nothing to fear from ICE showing up at a polling place. You know who might be a little nervous? People who aren't supposed to be voting in the first place.

This is the same Abigail Spanberger who previously vetoed legislation that would have kept ICE out of courthouses without a warrant. So she's fine blocking feds from watching elections, but she drew the line at courthouses? Interesting set of priorities, Governor.

The Virginia GOP nailed it, as reported by Townhall: "Spanberger hasn't lifted a finger to protect law-abiding Virginians, but she is moving mountains to protect criminal illegal aliens from accountability."

That's really the whole ballgame, isn't it? We've spent years listening to Democrats lecture us about how voter fraud is a "conspiracy theory" and an "attack on democracy" and a figment of our paranoid conservative imaginations. They told us election integrity measures were "voter suppression." They told us ID requirements were "racist." They told us questioning results was "insurrectionist."

And now — now that someone might actually show up to verify that only eligible Americans are casting ballots — the Governor of Virginia is signing executive orders to physically block them from the building.

As one commenter put it: "There's only one reason why a Democrat would want to ban immigration authorities from polling locations: because they want illegal aliens voting."

Harsh? Sure. Wrong? Show me the evidence.

Here's the pattern every single time. Democrats say the system is secure. Republicans propose oversight. Democrats block the oversight. Republicans ask why. Democrats call them conspiracy theorists for asking. Rinse, repeat, win elections.

Spanberger isn't protecting democracy. She's protecting a loophole. And she's betting that enough media outlets will frame this as "standing up against intimidation" that nobody will ask the obvious follow-up question.

We're asking it anyway: if there's nothing to hide, Governor, why are you hiding it?
